Each lesson provides a new concept that builds upon the last lesson. This guitar class includes a book and a DVD. The DVD contains lessons and practice sessions for students.

Benefits of the Worship Guitar Class for Kids

This guitar class is well paced for children who are beginning to learn the guitar. While a new concept is introduced each lesson, the concepts include ample repetition that does not seem to be excessive or lacking.

Jean Welles, the creator of this class and the instructor on the DVD has a gentle manner of teaching that any parent would find appealing for their child. In addition to her careful explanation and demonstration of each skill and technique, she showcases one of her own students, a young girl.

Children will be able to begin playing simple songs from the first lesson, and a short practice session is a great option for those students who enjoy her quiet encouragement and easy teaching style.

Each song that students learn to sing and play is a simple worship song that focuses on Jesus and sings His praises. Additionally, Jean emphasizes the importance of prayer, in both lessons and practice times. There is a final video clip on the DVD that provides an excellent explanation of the Gospel.

Drawbacks to the Worship Guitar Class for Kids

As with any lesson, the best teaching method is face-to-face. This way a teacher is able to monitor the individual child’s strengths and weaknesses and adapt each lesson accordingly. Re-teaching skills and correcting students on the spot make for the best possible learning situation.

The Worship Guitar Class does not have this live face-to-face interaction. Even so, it is a good second choice for a family who does not have the option for a teacher, or who specifically wants a Christian guitar teacher.

Overall, Jean Welles Worship Guitar Class for Kids is an excellent choice for step-by-step guitar instruction for young children who wish to learn how to play the guitar.
